Fátima Almeida is Cape Verde's most celebrated fashion designer. Born on the island of São Nicolau, she studied design in Portugal before returning to Cape Verde to begin her business. She uses panu di terra, traditional woven cloths, in her designs. She has held several international fashion shows and her designs are sported by many prominent Cape Verdeans.
